Advancing digital pathology to better support you

At Unilabs, we are committed to adopting digital pathology to enhance the efficiency and quality of pathology diagnostics. By scanning tissue slides into high resolution digital images, our teams can analyse and interpret samples without the need for physical transfer, supporting faster and more streamlined workflows. The digitalisation of our pathology services is designed to create a seamless network among all our labs across Europe, with the aim to:

Facilitate further specialisation

supporting service quality and helping expand capacity for swift processing of cases.

Improve access to field experts

enabling second opinions when needed, regardless of geographic location.

Provide convenient access to diagnostic reports

from different locations and at any time.

How Artificial Intelligence increases quality and efficiency

Unilabs is actively researching the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across selected medical fields, including pathology. Pathologists maintain control over any diagnostics decisions, while AI systems provide valuable support and assistance.

Supporting cervical cancer diagnostics with AI

Our systems provide our pathologists access to an AI-generated gallery of diagnostically relevant images, which can help increase the speed and reliability of treatment decisions. The technology also supports remote image sharing for second opinions, when required. In our laboratories where this solution has been implemented, internal evaluations have shown promising results, including an increase in productivity, with more cases examined per day and average turnaround time reduced from five days to four, and a reduction in ambiguous cases.
